Thank you for consigning with The Hoots Family Consignment Boutique! We're happy you're here.
Heading 6
HOW DO I CONSIGN?
You have 2 options.
1. BOOK an appointment where you can bring in 30 items. Scroll down to book an appointment.
2. Drop off without an appointment. You may bring in 15 items!
You may ONLY consign once every 2 weeks.
WHAT CAN I BRING IN?
1. EXCELLENT USED CLOTHING. Seasonally appropriate items, brand name clothing. Sizes newborn to big kids sizes 14/16 in both boys and girls clothing and all sizes of shoes and boots. We also accept adult clothing now of all sizes! Each item must be freshly cleaned.
2. TOYS. They MUST have batteries, if the toy requires batteries. Clean. Working. Each toy must have ALL of its parts - nothing missing.
3. LARGE ITEMS. Strollers, jumperoos, exercausers, high chairs, baby baths, etc. They all need to be in excellent condition, and have all their parts. Again, if the item needs batteries, they must have batteries in them so we can prove they work.
Child's miscellaneous items (i.e., monitors, strollers) must be in working condition. If the toy "needs new batteries", replace them prior to dropping off to confirm item works.
Clothing and footwear must be clean, free of tears, rips, stains, holes, smells. Shoes must be clean, not excessively worn, not stained, or dirty.
We accept high-end name brands all year round.
We accept swim wear all year round.
We accept Dance/Gymnastics items, Hockey, Ringette, Soccer, Baseball and all other sporting items all year round.
WHAT DO YOU NOT ACCEPT?
George Brand (Walmart)
Athletic Works (Walmart)
Ardene
We do accept Joe Fresh, but we try to limit the amount.
We cannot accept carseats, cribs, or breast pumps. (fun fact: it's actually illegal to resell or purchase a used carseat)
We do NOT accept large furniture. Why? Step into our store and find a spot for it and THEN ask me that question, lol.
We do not accept anything with stains, rips, holes, tears, smells, any broken pieces, repaired or anything missing parts. If we get any of these things, we will donate them without warning.
We do NOT accept underwear or socks. Because, ew.
And lastly, we do NOT accept any clothing items from places you've visited. I.e., "Disneyland 2021" shirts, or "Drumheller" hats. No one will purchase an item from a place you've visited that they haven't, so we just don't accept them.
HOW DO I GET PAID OUT?
Yup, we're a consignment store. What does that mean? Well, you get 40% of the sale price up to 90 days. You can use your account to buy anything in the store (yup, even new stuff and vendor items!). Or, you can ask for a payout.
Step 1: Tell us you want a payout.
That's it! We add you to the list for the 1st of the following month. Payouts cost $1 for the cheque (we write cheques only; not e-transfer) and you just come and pick it up when it's ready.
Remember: We are not a bank. Your money stays in your account for 365 days. Anything over that, it gets absorbed. So keep checking your account and don't forget to stop in within the year!
HOW DOES CONSIGNMENT WORK?
40% of the selling price goes automatically to your account when your items sell within the 90-day contract. We do NOT purchase items out right. Anything not sold / not deemed sellable gets donated without warning.
We do NOT offer return of items after the 90 day consignment contract. Any items that do not sell within the 90-day contract WILL be donated. All monies in the account older than 365 days will be forfeited by the consignor.
We reserve the right to CLOSE for drop-offs during high volume times & during special events.
Closures ensure safety in the store, and allow us to process drops at peak times in a timely manner. We communicate closures via: social media and signage on our door (and, soon, via email). If we are closed to drop offs there will be NO EXCEPTIONS made. (note: we've shut off drop-offs twice in the past 5 years and each time was due to the owner being on holidays!)
